A Message for Parents

Dear Parents,

I developed this page as a tool to help your children master major concepts in mathematics and/or business. Below you will find several websites that engage young minds using exciting displays. It is my recommendation that students work on a website once per week for about 30 minutes. These websites can be viewed by students after school in the media center, Laurel local library, on any home computer, or smart phone device.

Specific notes for each content:

Interactive Mathematics Program 1- Students taking IMP 1 are expect to complete several Problems of the Week (POW) that are major portions of their grade. POWs can be worked on as a group, but the written assignments have to reflect student independent thoughts. Please check Teacher Access Center to view your child's grades. Under the IMP 1 tab, there are independent extra credit items available to challenge your child. Students are encouraged to attempt these problems.

Essentials of Business 3- Students taking EB 3 are expected to adhere to the internet policy set by Laurel School District. This means student are expected to remain on lesson activities and complete their work. This is a gentle reminder that the expectations have changed in the program.  EB 3 will create a "mock" local business and set up the day to day components to running a successful business. We will have local business owners present how they started and give students some recommendations.

Freshman Seminar- Students taking 9th grade Seminar are being taught how to transition from middle school to high school. This course will introduce students to the high school's expectations, teach essential skills and explore college and career opportunities. The skills acquired from this class will aid students on their path to graduation by allowing success in current classes.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to enriching the educational learning environment. Please feel free to email me with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Ms. T. Barrow
